Anekdote is a Brussels-based hub for Arabic-European audiovisual collaboration. We work with creatives from the Arab world and its diaspora to bring challenging, engaged and inspired voices to the screen. Drawing on a large network of outstanding artists across the Middle East and Western Europe, we produce projects ranging from cutting edge fiction shorts to feature documentaries.

Hayder Helo is an Iraqi director, writer, actor and creative producer at Anekdote. Acclaimed for his work in Underexposure (2005) and In The Last Days of the City (2016), he has closely collaborated with filmmakers from New York to Cairo, Amsterdam to Baghdad, to produce powerful cinema with a vision. Hayder is currently co-directing the feature docu-fiction Carbon and works on his first feature documentary The Color of Our Time. Hayder
Jasper Luithlen is a Belgo-German producer and filmmaker with a background in social anthropology (LSE) currently working as the general manager of Anekdote. He has worked as a casting director, film maker and producer in the UK, Switzerland and Belgium, and has completed three short films including Sunny World (2022).
